Welcome, M. Black!

March 1, 2017

Wecome to M. Black!                                                                           Black is the pen name of Ami Blackwelder. Find out more at her websites http://AmiBlackwelder.blogspot.com and http://MBlackDystopiaThrillers.blogspot.com.

Today we are spotlighting her amazing book, Exotiqa.  Here is the description of the book:   ENTER TOMORROW
The second YA SyFy dystopian Thriller released by the debut author M. Black, dubbed Divergent meets iRobot. This novel will appeal to a vast array of audiences. Filled with haunting questions of consciousness and artificial intelligence, identity and self-awareness, politics and love, life and death, the reader will be engaged in an entertaining story filled with futuristic technology.

Set in the year 2055 in British Columbia, Canada, where humans are part robotic and robots are becoming more humanlike, the line dividing the two is becoming less clear.

When sixteen-year-old Fione meets Maci, a twenty-one-year-old Flexbot who escapes from ImaTech located along the crust of the Coast Mountains, Fione’s life is taken on a roller-coaster ride of events that begins with trying to save Maci from ImaTech Corporation and ends with trying to save the country.

With Fione's best friend and love interest, a Flexbot named Pix, Fione and Maci must come face-to-face with the greatest dangers their country has ever seen and learn the disturbing secrets of the popular online program Exotiqa—which her friends, family, and most of the country has downloaded onto their Cerebral Slabs. This won’t be easy, since Maci’s only love and greatest enemy, nicknamed Thirty, is tracking her every move.

This book is truly just a thrill a minute, twist, turn and gripping, I cannot rave enough about this book! Please visit this link to purchase or to find out more information about the book:https://www.amazon.com/EXOTIQA-WORLD-Book-1-ebook/dp/B06WRWZRMN/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

Also, please visit the author’s site here, http://MBlackDystopianThrillers.blogspot.com

You can also find her here, TWITTER and FACEBOOK

This has been such a great read, I cannot speak highly enough about it. There is a follow-up book, Thirty that delves into the relationship between Maci and Thirty, and I highly recommend grabbing that, as well.

It is that time again to say goodbye. Please do not forget to vote for your favorite site, as I am temporarily running this alongside the SOCHTHENEWSOFDALLAS.com to see which site is the easiest and fastest to use for my permanent blog site! Unfortunately, the SOCH site sometimes does not post my blog posts on time or at all, I apologize in advance if you are inconvenienced.

Welcome, GINGER BOOTH!

March 1, 2017

WELCOME, GINGER BOOTH!

Welcome! Today, we are going to be meeting another author whom I think all ages will enjoy reading!  I finished her book, titled “End Game,” about a week ago. I have since been eagerly waiting to share the book with you! First, I need to mention her super snappy bio! (Inside joke).

This is what Ginger told me (this is actually from her website, so I guess she is telling the whole world, not “me”, I just wanted to pretend I was very important for a moment) about herself! “Born in Connecticut, I went on walkabout for 14 years before returning to my beach-front hometown. I've lived in New York City, Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins in Colorado, Dallas, and Tokyo, and travelled widely in addition. (I was in Dallas and Tokyo and travelled around Europe while working for Texas Instruments, developing semiconductor design software.)”

Ginger seems to be a very well rounded and interesting person, and it has been wonderful getting to know her on a personal level, she is a very down to earth and sweet person, and I loved her Calm Act series. It is a future we hope never happens.

Booth’s book, End Game, is the first in the series titled Calm Act. It is dystopian in nature. P. A. Glaspy, whom I profiled last week, and Ginger, need to get together and collaborate, am I right? J Here is some information about the book!

Book 1: End Game:As the U.S. unravels, media and corporation offer a shining grail of salvation: to be one of the select few to secure safety in an ark. Dee Baker’s Fortune 100 media job promises her an ark berth, and for backup she’s dating fun and wealthy ark-itect Adam. But fellow gardener and neighbor Zack plans to make his stand outside the arks. Dee needs to choose whether to protect herself, or risk it all to help others. Trying to have it both ways could be the riskiest gambit of all.”

Sound good?  IT IS! Click here to get it and there is another book listed here as well for you to check out:  https://www.instafreebie.com/author/GingerBooth

Welcome, Cheree Alsop!

February 28, 2017

                                                                                                                                                     Welcome todays author, Cheree Alsop!

I received a wonderful book this week and it is a thrilling ride!

Cheree Alsop is an award-winning, best-selling author who has published over 40 books, including two series through Stonehouse Ink. She is the mother of a beautiful, talented daughter and amazing twin sons who fill every day with joy and laughter. She is married to her best friend, Michael, the light of her life and her soulmate who shares her dreams and inspires her by reading the first drafts and giving much appreciated critiques. Cheree works as a fulltime author and mother, which is more play than work! She enjoys reading, traveling to tropical beaches, riding motorcycles, playing the bass for the band Alien Landslide, spending time with her wonderful children, and going on family adventures while planning her next book.  Cheree and Michael live in Utah where they rock out, enjoy the outdoors, plan great quests, and never stop dreaming.

Today I am discussing her book, Girl from the stars Book 1: Daybreak.

Here is a brief description about Her book: Liora Day, half-human, half-mess with her and you’ll die Damaclan, had been thrown onto a rough path at a very early age. But when she is broken out of a cage by Devren, the young captain of the SS Kratos, she is shown that perhaps humanity does have a heart. The Kratos is set on a mission to rescue fallen surveyors from the Revolutionaries, and Liora is given the choice to follow her Damaclan instincts, or trust Devren’s dark eyes and captivating smile that promise an adventure unlike any she has ever experienced.

David estes.jpgWelcome, DAVID ESTES!   He is the Author of Strings, The Dwellers Saga, The Country Saga, Salem's Revenge, the Slip Trilogy, and The Evolution Trilogy, and The Adventures of Nikki Powergloves...Today is about

    SLIP.jpg

SLIP, GRIP and FLIP!!!!                                                                                                                                                                       Hello, discerning authors, fellow readers!   Seeing as how we are all so time-poor, I am sincerely grateful for you reading my blog today. I truly love to hold myself to a high standard of ethics, and only spoylight authors and books that I have read and truly fell in love with. This is to assist the authors with sales and promote books that truly are just a fun read or makes you think, and makes you excited to talk about and share with your friends, family, children, anyone! I honestly hope that you will take just a moment more to click the link(s) and show the author some love. I will be giving one of his books to one lucky winner today, you only need to email me and request it, at cricketwinner@hotmail.com.  Please put DAVID ESTES in the subject line. It is an honor to assist those authors that just have that extra “IT."  You know it when you read their work. Stephen King, Lee Child, J.D. Robb, Harlan Coben, Sue Grafton, I mean I can go on and on about all the authors who just have “IT”….Here, for your consideration is another author!I recently, by accident, discovered another amazing author who I truly cannot rave enough about! His name is David Estes. He is super talented!  I reached out to him and asked him if I could highlight him and lucky for all of us, David agreed!I am on 2 separate services for books that are either about to be published, already published or up for a contract with Amazon. Those services are NetGalley and Kindle Scout. I saw one book that I had just gotten free from a newsletter signup, “SLIP”.  (Upon signing up, you will receive book one of four separate series, Slip, Fire Country, The Moon Dwellers and Brew, and will also be added to his Awesome Reader Team.) Upon finishing SLIP, I went to review it on Amazon. There I saw the remainder of the series, Grip and Flip. Deciding to thin out my TBR list before getting them, I went to NetGalley to review a book I had finished the day before. I could have been knocked over with a feather when I saw Grip AND Flip both there on the site…I immediately reached out to David and begged him to let me read and review them as well as host him here on my blog. With a very prompt reply, I received those books through Netgalley, and his publisher, and I read for the rest of the day and well in to the night.  David really went beyond to do that for me, and I am so grateful to have received the series, and sharing the word with the public is an honor. I have only read these three books, not the other series and this Monday I intend to start Brew. I cannot wait as it sounds interesting to me, and yes, I will let you know how those three books are as well! Here is the description on Amazon about SLIP:  “Someone must die before another can be born...
As sea levels rise and livable landmasses shrink, the Reorganized United States of America has instituted population control measures to ensure there are sufficient resources and food to sustain the growing population. Birth authorization must be paid for and obtained prior to having a child. Someone must die before another can be born, keeping the country in a population neutral position at what experts consider to be the optimal population. The new laws are enforced by a ruthless government organization known as Pop Con, responsible for terminating any children resulting from unauthorized births, and any illegals who manage to survive past their second birthday, at which point they are designated a national security threat and given the name Slip.
But what if one orphan slipped through the cracks? What if someone knew all the loopholes and how to exploit them? Would it change anything? Would the delicate resource balance be thrown into a tailspin, threatening the lives of everyone?  And how far would the government go to find and terminate the Slip? In a gripping story of a family torn apart by a single choice, Slip is a reminder of the sanctity of a single life and the value of the lives we so often take for granted.”

Now how is THAT for grabbing you and shaking you?  You HAVE to get this book!  The writing, the characters, it is so deep, and as the series progresses you get to see the main character grow up, and his role evolves and it is just so many layers that you will immerse yourself and feel that you have sunk your teeth into a substance so satisfying, you will crave more. I only hope the series will continue, and that you read it, love and review it as I have. Please go to his site and sigh up for the starter library and get the word about this incredible author out, it is talent that we need to share to keep our reading addiction filled to the brim!  David; A personal thank you for your amazing work! I myself have OCD, and know the struggle is real! That draws to conclusion my author of the day. Please, take time to go sign up!

Weekly Follow Up!

February 24, 2017

Hello, Readers!

Welcome to my first follow up for the week! First of all I do need to apologize with the inconsistencies between SOCH and all of my personally run blog pages. The blog differences are my fault, as I am trying to run 4 pages to see which one people like the most and it is really time consuming, about the SOCH news blog posts, that is all them. I turn in one thing and they put it up whenever they want, sometimes even the format changed, they mess up the links, dates and even the blog pot order is messed up every other day... And I am sure by me telling you all of this, you can see that I am frustrated about it all.  These reasons are what have driven me to make my separate page(s) in the first place.  Because my first blog was supposed to start Feb 13th, Monday but did not go up till TUESDAY, It went up at around 4 pm I think, my whole blog was thrown off. Now, I am *finally* able to do a Friday roundup! Just a quick follow up of all authors so far! I enjoyed doing this very much, and hope to work with these authors again in the future! It has been a real privilege and honor to get to know each one of the authors on a personal level; all have been extremely humble and sweet!

Hello, my readers!

First of all I would like to do a poll… Now that you have had a chance to go to all the sites I am posting my blog, can you please shoot me an email and let me know which one you like the best? Just say SOCH, facebookblog, bravesit, wix or wordpress…. I would really appreciate it. This is for the author and the reader, and ease of use, the best looking, fastest loading, take all of that into consideration… It is VERY time consuming to put up all of these every day so I need some feed back….

Now for today’s author highlight, please give a warm welcome to Patti A. Glaspy!

She is an amazing and talented author! I will be show casing her wonderful novel,

Before the power was gone

Patti has said a lucky winner will get a copy of this, email me for the instructions!!!! Here is a little about Patty. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother who living in Middle Tennessee and loves to read, play puzzle games, cook, sew, and crochet. Some of her favorite things to do are to go camping and fishing with her husband. Having written poems and songs in her younger years, she never thought about writing a novel until she had the idea for When the Power is Gone. An avid reader of the genre, she felt a need for a story line written from a "regular woman's" perspective. She has plans for at least three books in the A Powerless World Series. I love hearing from you, so please let me know what you liked, didn't like, loved, or hated about any of my novels. You can contact me on Facebook, Twitter, through my website, or via email.                                                                                                                                                                                        http://www.paglaspy.com/                                                                                                                                                                                                     http://www.facebook.com/paglaspy                                                                                                                                                                                         http://www.twitter.com/paglaspy

If there is a need for being prepared for the world coming to a screeching halt, such as an EMP, or even a natural catastrophe, read this book. It is not a how to manual, but there are things in here that you would never think of needing to know, that COULD just save your life! A must read type of book for the survivalist, or even the one who calls themselves a prepper, or even just for a quick fun read! An excerpt: My name is Anne Mathews. I'm a prepper. But I haven't always been. This is how it started….

Russ and Anne Mathews live in a rural suburb in Tennessee. Regular people, with regular jobs, living a normal life – except for one thing. They are what many people call “preppers”. They have stocked up on supplies to survive any kind of event they can think of that may occur to disrupt life as they know it. When that event comes, they start preparing for the new way of life they will face. Along with their teenage son, and their next door neighbors and best friends, they plan their exit from a neighborhood too close to the city to a farm in the country. They just have to get there. Their faith in their own capabilities and in humankind will be challenged, as they fight to protect and keep their supplies and, quite possibly, their lives. When the Power is Gone is the first book in the A Powerless World Series, dealing with how life might be lived after an EMP. If you like post-apocalyptic fiction, this novel by P.A. Glaspy is a unique story from a woman’s point of view. Pick up your copy of When the Power is Gone today! That is all for today, I hope that you enjoyed reading this and please give feedback about the sites as well as hit follow on my face book blog, as that is the only way to follow my blog for now! Thanks so much!

When I asked Philip what he is up to these days, here is his response: “I'm in the middle of writing the first three books of a post-apocalyptic zombie series. The first two books have been edited; I'm just wrapping up the third ready to send to my editor. Once that is done, I'll be starting the fourth ready to start releasing the series in a few months.” So there you have it, we are about to be blessed with the birth of another zombie series and since Philip is writing it, I cannot wait to read it! Philip really is a talented writer and even though I have only read a few of his books, they were so well written that I just have to spread the word about him, he is right up there with Lee Child and Harlan Corbin, writing-style wise! Give his work a chance!

That is it for today. Please, do not forget to drop me a line and let me know which site you prefer, for WHATEVER reason. I need to know and thanks for taking time to visit the sites as well as the authors!

From the Desk of Aisha Hashmi

Welcome!  Let me start the day off with a BANG!!!! As many of you are new to my blog, I want you to know one thing about me. If there is a book in print, no matter the genre, it has a chance with me. I do however; prefer to read books with a strong lead with some type of involvement with solving crimes, dystopian or supernatural themes, or anything that just lets me escape reality for a while. I have been reading many author’s over the years that deal with justice for murder victims. I read all of J.D. Robb’s In Death series, as well as all of Lee Child’s series, with Jack Reacher, or recent movie fame, as well as Sue Grafton and Joanna. Fluke. I am just a fan of all these series, and today I am here to highlight a super favorite Author, Darynda Jones. She is super talented and every time I read a book of hers, I imagine Charley, the grim reaper of all grim reapers, solving my sister and nieces murder case and it brings a lot of comfort and healing to me. Darynda lives in the Land of Enchantment, also known as New Mexico, with her husband of almost 30 years and two beautiful sons, the Mighty, Mighty Jones Boys.     Darynda has written an amazing series as well as other books. I will let you go to her website to see all of her amazing work!  http://www.daryndajones.com/ The series I am hooked on the most is GRAVE series, starting with First grave on the right, and Darynda is giving one copy away to a lucky winner!!!!

February 20, 2017

WELCOME, my lovely readers!  How nice of you to join me today! I want to start with some updates for you. First, I never really have introduced myself properly, or to give an idea of what I plan to do on this blog.  My intention is to present high quality authors and the books they have written to you, to help sort out the best of the books out there. Meaning, I do all the hard work and read the books to pass on to you if it a THUMBS UP or a THUMBS DOWN. I intended to present and highlight one author a day, then on Friday do a follow up of the authors I presented all week, then in 6 months do a follow up on all the authors in that 6-month period, in case anyone missed an author. I have been with Goodreads.com, Kindlescout.com, Bookbub.com and many other sites for years. I have been reviewing on Amazon.com and Goodreads.com for years. I am an ARC for over 70 well-known authors. An ARC is an Advanced Reader Copy that’s sent out to reader volunteers before the book is ever published. We look for errors, misspellings, plot weaknesses or holes, etc. Sometimes the author even asks us for ideas, or offers a competition to have a character named after us in the book.  I have found it to be super exciting, and extremely satisfying and rewarding to help an author. It is extremely costly to have copyediting and if I can do it free and help an indie publisher, I am happy to do so.  It is also my intention to do a free book a day!   I will post titles books everyday, and if you are interested in any of them, email me and it is yours!  To be fair I will leave the selection up for one month. Some of these are audio books, others are .Mobi, .Epub or .PDF.  Today I am not doing any authors to be fair to last week’s authors. Next Monday I will be on track with an author and we will do the follow up on Friday. If anyone has a suggestion or idea, let me know, A gift is in it for the best suggestion as well!
